Sunday 14 January 2001 - William Hague MP
On Breakfast with Frost, Sir David met the Conservative leader William Hague in Darlington, near his Richmond constituency. He challenged the Prime Minister to meet him face-to-face for a pre-election television debate. He also promised if he won the Election to "give the country back to the people."

Huw Edwards hosted the rest of the programme at the studio in London. He spoke to the Chairman of Ford Europe, Nick Scheele about the current state of the car industry and the issue of a single currency.

He also asked Martin McGuinness, Ulster Unionist MP, about the progress of the peace process and his decision as Education Minister in the province to abolish school league tables there.
