Reeta is Breakfast's new Political Correspondent

Reeta Chakrabarti has worked for the BBC since the early 1990s. She's been a political correspondent, based at Westminster, since 1999.
Before that she spent several years as a radio producer and reporter on BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live, then she moved on to television.
She spent time as the BBC's Community Affairs correspondent, and has done stints covering home affairs, and health and education.
Her big stories at Westminster have included two general elections; three changes of Tory leader; travelling on the Lib Dem battle bus following the then leader Charles Kennedy on the campaign trail in 2005; and more recently reporting on the twists and turns of the cash for honours affair.
She's also covered some challenging stories including the Stephen Lawrence inquiry; the Damilola Taylor murder trial, as well as assignments in France, Germany and India.
Reeta was born in London but brought up in Birmingham, and has a degree in English and French from Oxford.
She lived in India for a while as a teenager, and France for a year as a student, so speaks bad Bengali and better French.
She lives in north London with her husband and three children.
