Kate reads the news on Thursday and Friday

Kate Sanderson is one of Breakfast's regular newsreaders - and can be seen every Thursday and Friday morning with the latest news bulletins on the hour and half hour.

She is also a regular presenter on BBC One's Watchdog programme.

Kate says: "One of the biggest thrills on Breakfast is bringing the news to people in a live environment where anything and everything can happen."

A trained journalist, Kate joined the BBC in 1997 to present and report on the children's news programme, Newsround.

During her time at the BBC, Kate has worked on a broad range of programmes which have taken her all over the world. She has exposed child slavery in The Philippines and reported on the Indian earthquake. Her reports on orphanages in Russia won her a BAFTA.

Kate comes from the north-west of England, where her parents and one of her two brothers still live.

Her interests include horse-riding, scuba diving, travel and languages.
