Survival training in the Arctic

Their mission: to combat global warming. Their reward: a trip to the North Pole.
That's the prize for one lucky group of teenagers who entered the Ice Edge competition last year.
It's part of an initiative to make young people think about science.
The winning group is made up of 12 teams from all over the UK, each was chosen for its idea to tackle global warming.
Breakfast's Sarah Campbell has travelled with the teams to Svalbard in the Arctic as the 40 youngsters see first hand the damage that has been caused in the region

The competition and trip is backed by the educational foundation Edge which campaigns for vocational and practical learning.
The youngsters will take part in practical experiments alongside professional climate scientists who are doing something about the environment through their every-day work.
They'll also study the way we use water, electricity and fossil fuels.
The carbon cost of the trip will be offset by donations to the Carbon Neutral Company.
