Last week we reported on a campaign to keep an RAF Vulcan bomber flying.

The Vulcan is no longer in service, and there are only 16 left with only one that stands a realistic chance of getting airborne again.

Following Tim Muffett's report last week, there was a surge in donations helped along by Breakfast viewers.

  • Tim returned to Leicestershire and revealed the project to restore the Vulcan would now be saved thanks to the additional money

  • The preservation team are labouring to refit the Avro Vulcan and restore it to airworthiness - the aircraft stands out because of its massive delta-wingspan.

It saw service with the Royal Air Force from 1953 to 1984 , and flew missions during the Falklands war

At nearly 100 feet long, the aircraft originally flew with a crew of five; Breakfast will bring you more when Vulcan XH558 finally makes its first flight, when the restoration is complete.
