It's 400 years since the Union Flag was first invented and today it is known around the world as a symbol of Great Britain.
Used by royalty and skinheads alike, the Union Flag has gained a controversial reputation in recent years after being adopted by right-wing extremists. But is it now being rehabilitated?

We spoke to Nick Groom, the author of a new book about the Union Flag. He argued that we need to take more pride in our national flag and make it a positive symbol of Britishness, reflecting the diversity of our country today.
