Amanda de Cadenet: self portrait
She began her TV career at the age of just 14, as a presenter on the Channel Four programme The Word. Now, Amanda de Cadenet spends her life on the other side of the lens.

After trying her hand in the film business, she's now a highly regarded photographer.

Based in Los Angeles, she records the life around her, with a circle of friends which include the Spiderman star Tobey Maguire and the model Sophie Dahl.

Amanda de Cadenet dropped into the Breakfast studio this morning to tell us about her new book of photographs, called Rare Birds.

And we asked her to pick her favourites from the ones you've been sending us from around Britain, as Autumn slips into winter.

Your photographs

We've been astonished and impressed by the quality of the photographs which you've sent in over the past few weeks.

We have now closed our appeal for Autumn photographs. No doubt we'll be asking for your pictures of winter fairly soon.

But in the meantime, you can view some of the best of Breakfast viewers' pictures in these galleries:

  • Rare Birds: Photographs by Amanda de Cadenet (with accompanying text by Marc Jacobs and Sophie Dahl) is published by powerHouse Books at 21.99
