The Sun's page 3 is 35 years old today. It's survived campaigns to have it removed and now the pictures of women in "lad mags" are far more raunchy than those found on page 3. So what's its role today?
According to the guardian a recent survey of 2000 girls aged 15-19, 67% considered "glamour model" their ideal profession and topless photos as "empowering and "liberating"

Sam Fox said that page three girls are definitely not exploited - they all know what they're doing and go on to carve out good careers.
She went on to have a singing career and has recently released a new single, Angel With An Attitude.
Two former page three models Leilani and Jakki Degg joined the Guardian's women writer Rachel Bell on Breakfast to debate the influence of page three today.
Both former models agreed that page three had afforded them a good lifestyle for the time that they were page three girls.
But Jakki Degg who is now pursuing a career as an actress said that it's no longer a springboard for other things
Rachel Bell from the Guardian's woman page is opposed to page three. She said that it puts pressure on young girls to look a certain way.
The models disagreed with Rachel Bell's assertion that page three amounted to the sexual objectification of women. But she said that page three had paved the way for the more sexually explicit images found in lads mags and journals such as the Sport.
