Chris Rea: live on Breakfast this morning
To call Chris Rea's latest project ambitious would be something of an understatement.

He's produced a total of eleven CDs featuring 130 new songs, a DVD and a book featuring his art.

Packaged in what he calls an earbook, the collection showcases his latest work - all blues from various regions of the US. Each chapter in the book has its own CD, recorded in four weeks, on location.

Called The Blue Guitars, it's been a particularly important project for Chis, as he's recovering from a life-threatening illness.

He's been marketing his own albums under his own label to free him from the constraints of the record companies.

Chris Rea came into the Breakfast studio this morning, to tell us more about his illness, recovery and the extraordinary outpouring of work that has followed in the past few years.

  • There's an exhibition of Chris Rea's artwork for the album at The Cork Streeet Gallery, Central London . It's on from Monday October 10 to Friday October 15
