Do you share the chores 50-50?
The machismo of Spanish men is under assault from a new law which compels them to do their fair share of chores around the home.

MPs have written an obligation to do housework and childcare into a new civil marriage contract.

What you told Breakfast

Failure to comply could be taken into account by the the divorce courts.

The new law has spawned a crop of gadgets.

They include a washing machine which can't be used by the same person twice in a row - and an ironing board, with a set of weights attached, to give new meaning to the phrase "pumping iron".

  • The BBC's Katya Adler reported for Breakfast on how it's all working out in practice.

  • And, we asked: could it happen here? We debated the pros and cons of sharing the chores with comedians Helen Lederer and Hardeep Singh Kohli
