Breakfast in Albert Square
Wendy Richard: nearly 20 years on EastEnders.
In two decades, thousands of pints have been pulled at the Queen Vic, and hundreds of sheets folded at the launderette.

Matriarchs and heart-throbs have come and gone. And the lucky few, like Dirty Den, have even risen from the dead.

  • Breakfast took a special trip to Albert Square, with guest presenter Nicky Chapman.

We met Wendy Richard, who plays Walford's truly terrifying matriarch Pauline Fowler.

We talked to her on-screen son Martin - played by James Alexandrou - and her new daughter in law Sonia (Natalie Cassidy). And, we met Dirty Den's mystery mistress.

We also had a special look behind the scenes on the EastEnders set, to find out how it's filmed.

And we talked to the soap's producers about how they keep the show on the road, with fresh characters and plot developments, week in and week out.
