Carol is a winner for weather
Carol Kirkwood
She's always smiling, she's completely unflappable and now she's won an award to prove it.

Breakfast's weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has won the title of TV Weather Presenter of the year.

Carol was honoured at the annual Television and Radio Club awards in London, where Dermot and Natasha both watched her collecting her trophy.
Carol brought her award into the studio

"I'm thrilled," she told us "It's like winning an Oscar."

Carol began her career in weather in 1996 when she joined the Weather Channel, presenting her forecasts to cable and satellite viewers.

She also worked on the drive-time slot for Talk Radio.

After further training at the Met Office and the BBC Carol joined the BBC's Weather Centre in April 1998.

Carol now presents the weather for Breakfast, come rain or shine, getting into the office at 3am, whenever she's on shift.

"I love this job, I really do," she told us. "For me, by the time the programme ends, it feels more like midday, because I've been up for so long."
