Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Bill
AIM
This bill introduces a number of measures which reflect what the Government calls progress towards normalisation in Northern Ireland.

MAIN PROVISIONS
  • Provide for jury reform and a new system of non-jury trial, following the repeal of the Diplock Court System
  • Provide for the powers for the armed forces, police and the Secretary of State to be reformed
  • Extend the remit of the Security Industry Authority to Northern Ireland
  • Extend the powers of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission
