Succession to the Crown (2) Bill
Main Provisions

BILL'S PROGRESS
Origin: House of Commons
Introduced: 12 January 2005
Provisional date for second reading: 04 March 2005
The bill has the same provisions as the Succession to the Crown Bill Part One which was withdrawn in December 2004.

It removes the condition in the Bill of Rights that a monarch may not marry a Roman Catholics - the so- called papists - and other non-protestants.

It is a tentative effort to amend one of the oldest active pieces of legislation in the United Kingdom.
