I just wanted to send my best wishes to the young soldier and his mother who appeared on the Andrew Marr Show today. The bravery shown by both of them in the light of his tremendous injuries is unsurpassed. I sincerely hope this will impact on politicians' actions in this terrible conflict. Susan Evans, GB

What an incredibly brave young soldier facing a terribly uncertain future as a result of his horrendous injuries received whilst fighting for this country. The nation should be making substantial ex-gratia payments to these young heroes to enable them to enjoy a decent and honourable standard of living which they richly deserve. Instead, we choose to reward the Goldman Sachs bankers and our plainly corrupt politicians who contribute nothing to the welfare and protection of the nation, and for whom these brave young men and women are giving their lives. We should hang our heads shame! Malcolm Roulston, Scotland

I listened carefully to your interview with Sir Jock Stirrup. I wish you had asked him whether he thought it was fair to risk British soldiers' lives for supposed 'security of our country', when other EU countries are either not involved in fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, are withdrawing their troops all the time, or if involved at all, are not putting their soldiers into the firing line, as the British soldiers are? Is it only Britain that is at risk from terrorism and if so, why? Stirrup must have a point of view on this. Yet again, the British being disadvantaged. Sally, England

How poignant was the song sung by Jamie Cullum! I felt it was so relevant and reminded me of the spirit of Remembrance Sunday: to remember those past and present but never loose hope. Thank you as I have recently lost a relative and found it very comforting. Annie, England
