Lebanese Druze leader in Syria

The Lebanese Druze leader, Walid Jumblatt, has held talks in Damascus with the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad.

Reports say they discussed developments in Lebanon after last month's parliamentary elections.

Before Mr Jumblatt left Beirut, he called for the reorganisation of Syria's ties with Lebanon.

He said the thirty five thousand Syrian troops in Lebanon should be redeployed, with Lebanese soldiers taking up some of the positions currently handled by the Syrian army.
