The death has been announced in Saudi Arabia of the popular singer, Talal Madah.

The official Saudi news agency said Mr Madah, who was in his sixties, suffered a heart attack during a performance in the southern city of Abha.

He was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

The agency said Mr Madah composed more than a thousand songs during a career which spanned nearly fifty years.

He was well-known in the Arab world, and often performed in Egypt, Lebanon and other countries.
