Israel stops for Holocaust Memorial Day tribute

People across Israel have observed a two minute silence as part of their Holocaust Memorial Day tribute.

Traffic stopped at 0700 GMT and streets fell silent as people remembered the six million Jews who died in World War II.

Israeli president Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid their respects at a ceremony at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem.
