Changing Cairo's call to prayer


The Muslim call to prayer is one of the most distinctive sounds of an Islamic city.

But the use of amplifiers has left some residents of Cairo yearning for a more harmonious sound.

Now, the Egyptian government says it is almost ready to begin broadcasting the voice of a single muezzin - the man who calls worshippers to prayer - to every mosque.

But not everyone is happy, as Christian Fraser reports.
