Israel will not investigate abuse

An Israeli state prosecutor has decided not to investigate border police officers who were recorded abusing Palestinian civilians in East Jerusalem.

Shai Nitzan, the deputy state prosecutor, said the incidents involved "light blows that did not cause damage", according to the human rights group, Yesh Din, whose appeal he rejected.

Three films, allegedly taken in August 2008, show Palestinians being kicked, slapped and humiliated by Israeli officers.

Yesh Din described the ruling as a "wrong and dangerous wink of consent".
