Anger at Israeli settlement plan

For the first time since taking office in March, the Israeli government has given permission for more than 450 new homes to be built in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The move will dismay the American administration who had made it clear that a freeze on building is crucial to kick start peace talks.
