A group of soldiers who took part in the Israeli offensive in January against Hamas fighters in Gaza say widespread abuses, some amounting to war crimes, were committed against civilians.

They gave testimony to Breaking the Silence, an Israeli veterans' organisation which seeks to highlight human rights abuses within the military.

The Israeli army says the report lacks credibility because it is based on anonymous testimony.

Paul Wood reports.
