Celebrations mark handover to Iraqi forces

Celebrations and a military and police parade have taken place to mark the handover of control in urban areas of Iraq to Iraqi forces.

It is being seen as a defining step towards ending the US combat role in the country.

But hours before the midnight deadline, four US soldiers were killed in combat.

Iraqi and US troops had been on the alert for insurgent attacks during the handover.
