Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has welcomed US Vice President Joe Biden after he arrived at the Presidential Palace in Beirut on Friday.
The White House has said that Mr Biden's visit is to reinforce the US's support for Lebanese independence ahead of key legislative elections in the country.
He is reported to be the first sitting US vice-president to visit Lebanon.
