US politicians in Gaza and Israel visit

Former US presidential candidate John Kerry is touring the Gaza Strip in the highest-level visit by a US official since the Hamas movement seized control there almost two years ago.

He is due to have talks with international organisations, including the United Nations relief agency whose facilities were damaged in Israel's recent offensive.

During his tour, he visited the destroyed American International School in northern Gaza and then the Israeli town of Sderot, a target of Palestinian rocket attacks.
