Israel denies banned weapons use

An Israeli spokesman has denied that Israel is illegally firing white phosphorus into Gaza.

Phosphorus shells may be used to make smoke in battlefields. Their use where civilians may be harmed is prohibited.

The organisation Human Rights Watch says pictures like this point to white phosphorus use.
