Miliband meets Assad in Syria

British Foreign Minister David Miliband has held talks with Syria's president Bashar al-Assad in the first such visit for seven years.

Syria has in the past been accused of helping foreign fighters going into Iraq but Mr Miliband stressed Syria's importance in bringing stability to the Middle East.

The BBC's Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen reports from Damascus.
