Five killed in Gaza incursions

Gaza map

Five Palestinian militants have been killed during Israeli incursions into the Gaza Strip, reports say.

One clash involving gunmen from Hamas took place near the Sufa crossing in the south, where Israeli forces were carrying out raids on houses.

Islamic Jihad said two of its men had died in fighting east of Bureij, in central Gaza.

The Israeli military said its raids had targeted what it called terrorist infrastructure.

Near Sufa, the Israeli military said troops were approached by gunmen armed with anti-tank missiles.

The militants were killed in an air strike called in to support the Israeli ground troops.

A soldier was also wounded in the clashes, the Israeli army said.

The official Palestinian news agency said the Israelis also detained at least 25 people during the raid.
