Six arrested for Iranian assassination attempt
The Iranian authorities have arrested six people for their alleged involvement in the assassination attempt on the leading reformer, Said Hajarian. The authorities said two of the culprits directly involved in the shooting were among the six. One had confessed; details of the interrogations would be announced when they were completed. Mr Hajarian, who was deputy leader of Teheran city council, was shot in the face in Teheran just over a week ago on March 12. by two men who fled on a motorbike. He remains unconscious in a Teheran hospital but doctors have reported some improvement in his condition. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
