At least 16 Egyptian school students were killed when a truck they were riding in ran head-on into another vehicle south of the capital Cairo.
Reports say eight other students, who were on their way to school, were injured, and some are in hospital in critical condition.
The victims are said to be between the ages of 15 and 16. The crash took place on a main road out of Cairo.
About 6,000 people die and 30,000 are injured on Egypt's roads every year.
Traffic regulations are often badly enforced and vehicle maintenance can also be very poor.
