Yemen newspapers regain licences
Yemen Observer editor-in-chief Muhammad al-Asadi
Observer editor-in-chief Muhammad al-Asadi (C) remains on trial
A newspaper in Yemen whose licence was suspended after it reprinted Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad says it is permitted to publish again.

The Yemen Observer says the government decided to restore its licence after talks between the prime minister and members of the journalists' union.

Two other newspapers banned for the same reason are also reported to have been allowed back on sale.

The Observer's editor is on trial for defaming Islam, charges he denies.

The cartoons, which first appeared in a Danish newspaper before being reprinted across the world, outraged Muslims and resulted in widespread unrest.

Many Muslims consider it blasphemy to make images of their prophet.
