Insurgents target Iraqi soldiers

A senior interior ministry advisor was killed at his home on Monday
At least 10 people have been killed in two separate attacks by insurgents on Iraqi soldiers.

At least six National Guard members and recruits were among the victims of a suicide bomber at an army enrolling post north of Baghdad.

The car bomb exploded outside the entrance of the centre in the Azamiya district, injuring at least 40 people.

Elsewhere, insurgents opened fire on Iraqi troops in Khaldiya, west of Baghdad, leaving at least four dead.

In a separate attack, gunmen shot dead an academic on his way from home to Baghdad University.

Professor Fouad Ibrahim Mohamed al-Bayati was head of the German language department.

On Monday night, senior defence ministry adviser Maj Gen Adnan al-Qaraguli was killed when gunmen burst into his home in Baghdad.
