Mubarak home after back surgery
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak
Mubarak has been Egypt's leader since 1981
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has returned to Cairo after more than two weeks in Germany for back surgery.

The surgeon in charge of the operation on a slipped disk said Mr Mubarak would continue with physiotherapy, but was fit and could "resume... state duties".

The president, 76, left the Munich hospital and flew to Cairo, where he was greeted by a throng of officials.

Uncertainty over Mr Mubarak's health has caused concerns in Egypt.

During his absence, Mr Mubarak had delegated his duties to Prime Minister Atef Obeid.

However, Mr Mubarak did not appoint a vice-president - the usual route to power in Egypt, observers say.
