'Mass grave' found in Iraq

Kurdish officials say at least 2,000 unmarked graves have been found just outside the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

They say the area is a mass grave where the Iraqi army killed Kurds in the late 1980s.

The site of the grave lies close to an old Iraqi base.

So far there has been no independent verification or excavation of the site.

During the 1980s at least 100,000 Kurds were killed in Saddam Hussein's policy of ethnic cleansing in Iraq.
