New Israeli army chief sworn in

A new Israeli army chief of staff has been sworn in.

He is General Moshe Ya'alon - a former paratrooper who fought in the 1973 Arab-Israeli war and has held several key positions including head of military intelligence.

Regional analysts say General Ya'alon's appointment is not likely to herald immediate change to the tough tactics employed by his predecessor Shaul Mofaz against the Palestinian uprising in the occupied Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
