In pictures: Jerusalem bombing
A suicide bomber walks up to a group of Israelis in a religious area of west Jerusalem and detonates his explosives - leaving nine dead and nearly 60 injured.
Militant group the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for Israeli military action in Palestinian refugee camps.
Streets were crowded when the bomb was set off
Many youngsters going home from synagogue were caught in the blast
Hospitals worked hard to cope with the injured
Orthodox Jews had been celebrating the end of the Sabbath
But the celebration turned to grief and anguish
Israel says it will retaliate for the attack
