Magazine 'closed by Iranian judge'
Reports from Iran say the country's conservative-dominated judiciary has ordered the closure of a weekly film magazine, Cinema World.
The Iranian newsagency IRNA said the press court judge, Sayeed Mortazavi, ordered the ban because the magazine had published what he called lies that disturbed public opinion and material that violated moral decency. Since April 2000, Iran's judiciary has closed more than 40 mostly pro-reform publications, and detained more than 20 journalists. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
