Court cuts sentences on Egyptian gays
An appeals court in Egypt has reduced prison sentences on two men prosecuted for setting up a website promoting homosexuality. They'd been found guilty of indecent behaviour. One man Sami Gamal had his original sentence of three years cut to three months; the other Gameel Gebreel had a fifteen-month sentence replaced by a fine. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
