Another reform journalist arrested in Iran
Reports from Iran say the country's conservative-dominated courts have ordered the arrest of the third pro-reform journalist in less than a week. The official IRNA news agency quotes press and agency reports as saying the journalist, Fariba Davoodi-Mohajer, was detained at her home on Thursday. The officers are also reported to have carried out a lengthy search of her home and confiscated several documents linked to the reform movement. Mrs Davoodi-Mohajer worked for two newspapers that have been banned by the authorities. About twenty publications have been suspended and more than a dozen journalists jailed in Iran since April last year. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
