Saudi-Yemeni cooperation meeting ends
Saudi Arabia has agreed to reschedule debts owed to it by Yemen and to extend three-hundred million dollars in fresh loans for development programmes. A statement at the end of the Saudi-Yemeni co-operation council -- the first for more than a decade -- said a team from Riyadh would visit Yemen to discuss rescheduling debts estimated at around three-hundred million dollars. The joint council also agreed to strengthen ties in a number of fields including trade, oil, electricity and transport. Correspondents say relations have been improving since the two countries signed a border agreement in June, ending a long-running dispute. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
