Theresia Viska is a photographer from Stockholm. She studied at the documentary school, Nordens fotoskola, and now has a two-year working grant from the Swedish Committee of Arts.
"At the military academy in Stockholm they have an annual winter ball at the Castle of Karlberg."
"Highly placed officers and young cadets dance the Dance Francaise."
"My family has been within the military for over 300 years. When the military academy welcomed me I knew right away how to work with my images."
" I was going to let the beautiful dancers illustrate the ghosts and spirits of my ancestors. I was going to make a ghost story!"
"I've had to be well prepared, wearing a long dress and dancing with the other guests, I have made blurry images by using a slow shutter and a small flash."
"After working on the images with some computer software, I showed the images to the military cadets. They loved them!"
"They welcomed me back the following year after. So far I've been to four military balls."
More of Theresia's work appears in the current edition of Eyemazing magazine and the exhibition "La Danse Française" runs 29 October-21 November at KG52, Stockholm.
