In pictures: Ten years of the Beckhams

The couple started dating in 1997 after they met at a Manchester United game. A year later they posed for pictures to mark their engagement.

Already famous before they got together, the Beckham marriage secured their place amongst the A-listers. A decade later they are about to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.

Alistair McGowan and Ronnie Ancona often poked fun at the couple in their sketch show The Big Impression.

The Beckhams named their first son Brooklyn, after he was conceived during a visit to New York.

The couple have since had two more boys, Cruz and Romeo. Each name has predictably made headlines.

Victoria remains the only Spice Girl not to reach number one during her solo career. The group briefly reunited last year for a tour, but she has turned her back on music to launch a fashion career.

As David continues to make headlines on the pitch, his wife - who is chief among the footballers' Wives and Girlfriends (WAG) - generates headlines of her own.

During an interview with TV presenter Michael Parkinson, Victoria revealed she calls her husband Goldenballs and he had once worn her knickers.

In the early part of their relationship the Beckhams would often turn up at events in matching outfits, which typically dominated the fashion pages. David was once photographed wearing a sarong.

Brand Beckham has amassed a reported fortune of £125m. As well as their own fragrances, the couple have been involved in various book deals and advertising campaigns.

In 2004 the iconic couple were depicted as Mary and Joseph in a nativity scene at Madame Tussauds. They were joined by waxworks of Kylie Minogue and Samuel L Jackson.
