Supporters of the governing Congress Party coalition are celebrating in India after the opposition Hindu nationalist party, the BJP, conceded defeat in the country's general election.
A party spokesman made the announcement after early results showed Congress and its allies had done much better than expected and established a clear lead.
Despite the party atmosphere, Congress and its allies are thought unlikely, though, to win an outright majority.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh thanked the Indian people for returning his party to power, vowing Congress would "rise to the occasion".
Mr Singh said he wanted to find a position in his cabinet for Rahul Gandhi, who is an heir to the powerful, Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty.
