Christian believers around the world have been holding services to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Here, Pakistani Christians are pictured at a service in Lahore.

In Jerusalem, pilgrims follow the Way of the Cross, retracing the journey taken by Christ to his crucifixion, which is believed to have taken place where the Church of the Holy Sepulchre now stands.

Filipino Catholics reenact the crucifixion during a passion play in a village in San Fernando, north of Manila. Around 85% of the the South-East Asian nation's 90m inhabitants are Catholic.
