Jade Goody's funeral began with her coffin being taken out of a funeral directors in Bermondsey, south London.
Goody's hearse passed by several areas where she and her family used to live in Bermondsey.
Several well-wishers threw flowers at the hearse as it drove through the streets of south London.
At one point, the procession paused while funeral director Barry Albin-Dyer released a dove.
Large screens were put up around the church for the benefit of the crowds outside.

A book of condolence was opened at St John the Baptist church, in Buckhurst Hill, Essex after her death - this signing by two of Goody's fans took place at the end of last month.
Well-wishers in specially-made t-shirts gathered to pay their respects to Ms Goody.
Among the mourners was Davina McCall, presenter of Big Brother.
Singer Jamelia and her husband Darren Byfield also attended the funeral service.
One of the pallbearers for Jade Goody's coffin was her husband, Jack Tweed.
Large crowds gathered outside the church to watch the service on giant screens.
