Lenny Henry is playing the title role in Northern Broadside's production of Shakespeare's Othello at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds.

Northern Broadside has established a reputation for performing Shakespeare and other classical texts with regional voices.

Henry plays Othello in Shakspeare's tale of love, racism, jealousy and desire, alongside Conrad Nelson as the duplicitous Iago.


Henry's Northern Broadside co-stars include Jessica Harris as Othello's wife, Desdemona.


Maeve Larkin plays Iago's wife, Emilia, who is also Desdemona's lady-in-waiting.

The play runs until 14 March, before touring theatres across the UK, including Scarborough, Bath, Coventry and Halifax.
