Jade Goody (right) became famous after appearing on the Channel 4 show Big Brother. She was criticised for getting drunk and stripping off on-screen.
TV presenter Jeff Brazier dated Goody for two years and the couple have two children together, Bobbie and Freddie.
The star's appearance on Big Brother, and her troubled background, made her an overnight success. She starred in several reality TV shows, including Five's Back To Reality.
The 27-year-old became a favourite in celebrity magazines. She launched her own perfume range, opened a beauty salon and wrote two autiobiographies.
In 2006 she took part in the London Marathon but failed to finish the course, dropping out after 21 miles. The star admitted she had trained by eating curry and drinking.
Goody constantly reinvented her look; her on-going battle with her weight was also well documented.
Goody, her mother Jackiey Budden, and Goody's boyfriend Jack Tweed took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, but Goody's appearance did more harm for her reputation than good.
After several rows with fellow housemate Shilpa Shetty, Goody was voted out of the house amid allegations of making racist comments.
To repair the damage Goody went on the Indian version of Big Brother. It was during her appearance on Bigg Boss that she was told that she had cervical cancer.
Although Tweed and Goody's relationship has been tempestous, he asked the reality TV star to marry him soon after learning she had months to live.
Despite being unwell, Goody continued to work and be followed by cameras during her treatment in order to earn money for her two sons' future.
