Altermodern: Tate Triennial 2009

Altermodern, the fourth Tate Triennial, featuring some of the best new contemporary art in the UK, has opened at Tate Britain, in London.

The exhibition includes works in all media - from photography, film, video and installations - including Gateway, by German painter and installation artist Franz Ackermann.

Tate Britain describes the exhibition as a new form of art for the 21st century, which celebrates a "fresh energy and spirit" in contemporary culture.
