Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen performed with a full choir at the free concert at Washington's Lincoln Memorial to kick off the inauguration celebrations of US President-elect Barack Obama.


Bono described Mr Obama's election triumph as the fruition of "the Irish dream and the African dream".

Shakira and Stevie Wonder

Mr Obama recently told Rolling Stone magazine: "If I had one musical hero, it would have to be Stevie Wonder.". Wonder performed with Shakira.

Tom Hanks

A host of Hollywood A-listers paid tribute to Mr Obama, including Denzel Washington, Jack Black and Tom Hanks.


R&B singer Usher performed Higher Ground alongside Stevie Wonder.

Bettye LaVette and Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi hosted a pre-election fundraiser at his New Jersey home for Mr Obama last year. He joined Bettye LaVette on stage.

Sheryl Crow and Will.I.Am

Rock star Sheryl Crow has publicly supported Mr Obama on her official website. She performed a cover of Bob Marley's One Love with Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas.

Mary J Blige

Mary J Blige performed Lean on Me and joined soul singers Beyonce and John Legend on stage.

President-elect Barack Obama and wife Michelle

Mr Obama and his family held the seats of honour at the event in front of an estimated 500,000 strong crowd.
