Bono described Mr Obama's election triumph as the fruition of "the Irish dream and the African dream".

Jon Bon Jovi hosted a pre-election fundraiser at his New Jersey home for Mr Obama last year. He joined Bettye LaVette on stage.
Rock star Sheryl Crow has publicly supported Mr Obama on her official website. She performed a cover of Bob Marley's One Love with Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas.
Mary J Blige performed Lean on Me and joined soul singers Beyonce and John Legend on stage.
Mr Obama and his family held the seats of honour at the event in front of an estimated 500,000 strong crowd.
