In pictures: Celebrity Big Brother house

Channel 4 is gearing up to put another crop of celebrities into its Big Brother house hoping they will draw in viewers but avoid the controversies of the last series.

Celebrity Big Brother was rested in 2008 after the previous year's race row involving Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody.

The identities of the celebrities taking part in the latest series are being kept secret until it launches on 2 January. Among the names mooted are Ulrika Johnson and Austen Powers actor Verne Troyer.

Previous winners of Celebrity Big Brother have included Take That's Mark Owen, Happy Mondays dancer Bez and Shilpa Shetty.

Despite being broadcast in January, the outside area of the Big Brother house has several seating areas.

One room outside has bars across it, giving the impression of a jail cell. The 2008 non-celebrity version featured a "jail" where contestants were sent for breaking the rules.
